Reflection

Received a call just now, and it's from my ex. I already expected that he would find me but didn't expect it to be a call.

What happened to him was what once happened to me nearly two years ago, with the girl being me and the guy, him (at that time). When he told me that he suspected his gf had less and less feeling towards him lately, a song/idiom just popped up in my mind... What goes around comes around.

Now don't take me as a heartless person. It's just that... it reminds me of the past, of what I've been through that time. I still remembered clearly every piece of details; from the day I suspected his feelings to the day I cried my heart out... and to the day I stand up and face the reality. Now this happened to him, and I saw the past me in the present him, except that he has yet to let it go and get back on his feet. Well, he needs time to nurse his wounds.

No one is to be blamed, as it's either the right person at the wrong time, or the wrong person at the wrong time. I once blamed my ex, just to make myself feel better, but in the end God shed light on me through my mom and by that time I knew, it's just not the right person. I am lucky enough to eventually find one that loves me as he loves the Lord and although I dare not say that he is the right one, as long as we both love God, He will lead our paths and keep us together.

Relationships come and go, and I believe all these happen with a reason, that is to learn and to grow. In everything that we do, there will always be failure and success, it's just a matter of one trying hard to shift the probability to success, and you learn that from past failures. You fall down, you get hurt, but you stand up, lick your wound and move on with something valuable learnt: Experience.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
-Kelly Clarkson

This also reminds me of a video by WongFu Production: The Last

Past relationships teaches you, prepares you and shapes your life, so don't be afraid to fall in love again. If you're not sure, be friends first. Don't rush and take one step at a time.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Mid Semester Break

Mid-sem break start on 2nd Nov until 10th Nov, so yah I'm in my hometown now since 2nd Nov. =D

However, it isn't really a holiday that I'll normally look forward to like usual, instead it'll only be a period of time where I can rest without activities, practices, or assignments bugging me. Or you can term the word as "Avoiding". True enough, I'm kinda avoiding something.

This semester is kind of a hectic 1st semester (for 2nd year) to me, irony to the fact that I'm only taking 17 units this semester. For now, I joined Chinese Orchestra, Lifesaving class, Scuba Club, and perhaps, some small events later. My September was basically filled with 3 CO performances, with one not including me, but preparations are time consuming, which I can see from the face of my friend who was totally stressed out during that time (he got a high post actually xD). Following that on October was a month in which I have 2 field trips: 3D2N Langkawi for Oceano and half day trip to Engineering campus for Limno; dance practice for a cultural exchange with Thai Aquatic students, Lifesaving classes and midterms. Nov will be a month of another intensive training for lifesaving, CO and another 2 remaining midterms.

How am I actually going to survive these (@.@)? Oh not to mention I'll be participating in Penang Marathon in the FunRun category haha~

For this semester, I never really have a weekend where I could wake up without setting the alarm, except for one fine Saturday, which I skipped a meeting for that (-.-).

Last two weeks had been a stressful time for me. First time sleeping for 2-3 hours for a couple of days. First time waking up early to study. First time have had dinner at 11pm. First time tears rolling down when I read only one sms, and it's not even from my bf. I really break some of my own records already (-.-).

Senior, although you and I have made it clear that it was just a misunderstanding and you're only being sensitive, still the wound is still there. I've tried to remove it and pretended to be okay but whenever I see you, it hurts. I don't know why but it really hurts. Maybe it's because of the stress from studies, relationship with friends and family matters that builds up so high and in the end triggered a damage by just your sms. It's not your fault, really, it's me who is unable to control it well.
******
There are some things that I cannot tell but to keep it to myself, it will be hard but I believe I can do this. I just hope that God can give me a miracle in the end. Please.

I think from now onward it'll take more than a cup of tea to relax my mind.

Sick and Frustrated

I went to Langkawi for a 3D2N field trip last week under Oceanography, and apart from the experience and knowledge gained and chocolates bought, I also brought back itchy cough + phlegm, which means most of my chocolates are left untouched until now (-.-)

Few days ago my cough went really bad, until I vomited (-.-) and when I finally was able to see the doctor this Wednesday (after Haji, because the clinic was closed that time), she prescribed me these:

7 types of medicine and 2 types of vitamins! OMG!!  I was really dumbfounded when the pharmacist gave me these. The cough syrup makes me really sleepy and although the prescription there said to consume 3 times per day, I just consume once per day, because I'm too busy lately.

Speaking of busy, a few dates (not human) are waiting for me with "knives" in their "hands". An Ichthyology article due this Monday and I'm just starting to search for information, not to mention a Limnology field trip tomorrow morning, fellowship/Oceano rehearsal tomorrow night, Sunday service, CPR demonstration on Sunday noon, Oceano rehearsal again Sunday night, performance on Monday night and two different quizzes next week. See? I basically have no time but today to type my article and thanks to my bad habit in time management, I'll be rushing like hell today. (>.<)

Another big problem here. I promised my friend (junior) to return her books by today after borrowing them to photocopy, and I passed those books to my classmate who is so good to offer her help in photocopying it (coz she also need it, duh). Who knows... WHO KNOWS... when I asked her just now if I can get the books back today, she said, "Cannot, Sunday only can." Reasons? She was busy yesterday and today (after I called) then only she went to the shop to photocopy. An even "good" news: the shop is closed on Saturday, which means latest I can get it is on Sunday (wth...). Hey I thought you already sent the books to the shop on Wednesday when you went to print our report??? I'm also busy wey! Doing things that I'm not supposed to be doing at all! Designing costumes and practising for a dance? Give me a break please! I have lifesaving and swimming classes to attend, fellowship treasurer things to deal with, chinese orchestra matters, etc. Next time don't even mention "I'm busy" to me. *eyes rolling*

Okay I know it's my fault too for not photocopying early. Ish....

A crazy semester indeed. It is fun to learn new things, but please don't let small, unnecessary things become a priority. I still need to study and pass this semester!

It's A Cold Cold Day

Brrrrr...... so cold today! I feel like I've been living in an air-conditioned room for the past few days. >.<
It has been raining everyday ever since I came back to Penang and even before that. That only increases my sleeping mood and decreases study mood more. /.\

When I reached my hostel on Sunday, I thought I'll have to clean my room till my back ache or whatsoever, luckily my cozy room wasn't as dirty as I thought. However, I found something quite speechless...

WTH is this.... snake's skin??? O.O|||

Okay since I didn't find anything suspicious (like tree snake lingering) other than that, so I assumed my room is safe *fingers crossed*

Anyway after an hour or so of sweeping and wiping, I'm left with these to unpack =.=

Worst thing ever! Okay that's because I got a lot of those little stuffs that I'm kinda reluctant to get rid off. Wonder why can I become like that HAHAHA~

Anyway, I've kinda settled down and adapted to my university life again, after a few struggles and stupid jokes. xD
My dear room mate? Still as blur as ever haha~ But then I'm still lucky to have her as room mate.

Oh ya I remembered something, got this and a small cup of apple juice when I'm in the plane on the way back to Penang.

My first time boarding the plane alone and I got this kinda hospitality, not bad as it made me feel like I'd take another flight again next time. =D

But then my teaspoon broke in half when I was opening the biscuit can just now =.=

Haha okay I'm speechless now, so going to end my entry here. See ya soon!

Going Back to USM

Here I am... Again.

Now I noticed that most of the time when I blogged, my mood is usually in a mess, and I hated that.

You know, I planned to blog about the desserts that I made a few weeks back, but was either too busy/too lazy/don't have the drive at all. Da Hell...

And now I'm still packing my bag plus searching for student cab, etc, and the worst thing is, I'm going back tomorrow. =.=

Damn I ain't feeling like going back, even if it does, I hate to do things all in one go. Right now I have a video to complete, luggage to pack, songs to download, and so on. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

Oh... as I'm typing this, one matter is cleared, which I already found a student cab, YAY! Mood's getting better now. Just now was really down down down...

Hmm I think I'll blog again when I'm free, right now I'm going to continue with the packing.

Thank you Lord for answering my prayers and thanks Cher for comforting me =' )

432 Miles Apart

From 5 minutes apart to 432 miles apart in just a half a day... Gosh I'm starting to miss him already. =(

Never mind, I know we'll meet up eventually, and distance will make us stronger!
Here goes LDR! - feeling oomph

Haha yah I know I'm a bit crazy now, can't help it though. *shrug*

Meanwhile, I'm going to start my exercise plan soon as I'm getting fatter at the wrong place (damn!) and some fat prawn keeps laughing and reminding me at that. >.<

HERE IT GOES! MOTIVATION PLEASE KEEP ME THERE!

2013

After a year and 5 months, I'm back to blogging again, and worry not, I'm still alive. *Uh huh*

Now why do I come back again, after such long gap?

Well, I don't even know why, maybe it's because I feel like to.

I still remember that I blogged about my post-F5 life before and stated that 2009 was a bittersweet and memorable year. The thing is, now only do I realized that life gets even more challenging after that. To sum it up, my Form 6 and post-F6 life were quite boring and busy but nevertheless, I learned a lot. It was basically a stepping stone for my university life, one that really helped me to survive until now and hopefully till years and years later.

And yes, during the 9 months gap before entering USM, I have had ups and downs in my relationships. Continuing from the second last post (excluding this), I started a relationship with that guy, which in my naive mind, thought that it would last and now when I looked back, I wanted to laugh at myself but at the same time, feeling grateful that God let that happened. Really, I'm not joking, because if it isn't for that, I won't get the chance to be with him now. After 2 failed relationships, here am I with one that is also in Christ (finally! hahaha).

The past lets me learn and grow, and sometimes I can't help but to feel that I have a more mature thinking now, whether it is in everyday life or relationships (not bragging yah). Anyway, God knows what He is doing and I know He'll give me what's best. =D

And here is a quote from Steve Jobs that I have always keep in my mind. Believe me, it's true.

"You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path; and that will make all the difference."

8th - 11th day of VRP 2012

8th-10th Day (15-17/1)
Helped Ms Loo with her samples. We did gel with 50 plus samples. Next day we did DNA extraction using patients' blood samples. It was quite a busy day as we did around 8-9 blood samples using her newly arrived kit. We used 15ml tubes instead of the 0.2ul and 0.5ul tubes we used before. Dealing with patients' blood is quite dangerous, as we don't know what the blood contains, so we kept on changing our gloves every time we realized that there's blood on it, even if it's just a drop. In the end, Ms Loo's newly opened glove box was reduced to nearly half of it's original content, which made Pong and I quite speechless. We had our lunch quite late that day as we need to incubate the samples for an hour and centrifuged it for a few times. As busy as it seems, Pong and I were glad because our time was well spent.

11th Day (18/1)
Ms Loo went back to her hometown today, therefore we were put under the cyto lab. Unfortunately, the audit came that day, so the lab was really busy and the staffs do not have time to deal with us. So we were left alone. Luckily Kak Fiza, a staff from the molecular lab (we actually thought that she was a student at first!), gave us a little briefing on the identification of SMA gene, plus a little chit chatting. She was really friendly, and beautiful too =)
However, our session only last for an hour, so Pong and I were left to spend the rest of the time day-dreaming.
Before we went back, we have decided that we are going to take a leave the next day, for we do not want to day dream the whole day again. By the way, that in turns lengthens our CNY holiday. XD

2nd - 7th Day of VRP 2012

Ehehehe, sorry for the late post. I've been quite tired lately after coming back from USM everyday (except Friday and Saturday), and so, lazy to update (><). However, don't be mistaken, I'm not tired because of working non-stop there, but because of all the waiting. Ha, you will know what I meant later.

2nd Day (5/1)
Apart from having to do the DNA quantification and PCR, we actually forwarded our plan for the 3rd day, which included gel electrophoresis. DNA quantification, I think, is used to test for the approximate quantity of DNA obtained in your sample. First, we have to clean the plate, which in this case, we use Tecan's NanoQuant Plate (link here, video here) , then test if the wells of the plate are clean by a process called blanking. If the wells are clean, we then put a drop of the DNA sample into the well and measure it, all with the help of the machine and computer.

After that, we used the DNA samples from the first day (which we also used in DNA quantification just now) to do the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). On that day, we just wanted to test for the presence of SRY gene (found on the Y chromosome) and ARG E1 gene. After going through the procedure, we then put the new samples into the PCR machine and waited for approximately 3 hours.

After putting the samples into the PCR machine, we went to prepare the gel used in gel electrophoresis. It just took a few minutes though, so Pong and I had to spend the rest of our waiting time day dreaming. When the PCR machine was done, we took the samples out and add a drop of SybrGreen (just a bit toxic) instead of ethidium bromide (carcinogenic) into the samples. Later we run the gel, and interpreted the results using a UV transilluminator. Here's a link to run the gel: http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/labs/gel/

3rd Day (8/1)
Actually we are supposed to be under Mr. Chia that day, but as the plans have been forwarded, we are now under Ms. Loo's supervision. She is a PhD student and is currently doing a research on stroke. That day, we attended two talks from two companies, one of which was Metasystems (I've forgotten the second one). The guys from Metasystems introduced their company's latest technology and software, which produces better results in karyotyping, , mFISH, mBand, etc. After the talk, we have free lunch (Haha~). Then we follow Ms Loo to run the gel with her samples. At noon, we had another talk from the second company, which introduces the SpeedCycler²,a machine used in Rapid PCR. Then we again run the gel with Ms Loo.

4th Day (9/1)
There were less activities that day, just PCR and gel electrophoresis with more samples and shorter time.

5th Day (10/1)
We repeated the same thing that day, PCR and run gel, it's just that the samples and reagents were different. However, that day Ms Loo showed us how to do the touchdown PCR, which is used to find the optimal conditions to amplify that particular sample.

6th Day (11/1)
The most boring and wasted day for the first week of the VRP. =_=
Our supervisor have taken a leave for two days (11/1-12/1) and we are temporarily attached to the cytogenetic lab. Actually I can tell that the staffs at the lab aren't totally prepared for our unexpected attachment, because we only had a briefing which lasted for an hour from 2-3pm (We are only supposed to be under their supervision starting from February). Our remaining time were spent by reading books, reading the lab's preparation manual, day dreaming and chit-chatting with another post-SPM student from CH, who is under Neuroscience. Sigh...

7th Day (12/1)
Today is a bit busier. We attended a lecture on Cytogenetics by an Indian professor, which is quite interesting. Later we went to the cytogenetic lab again, had yet another explanation, helped Mr. Chia with his new sample with a new polymerase, then back to the lab again to see the slide preparation technique. It's not any normal slide, but one involved in making out the karyotype later.

So, that's all for this week. (Damn, I've been spending 2 hours on this! =_=)

***
Hmm... I still have something in my mind which is bothering me now, though most of it have been solved by Panda. However, I don't know what it is that's bothering me. No even a hint! (Ha...) Hey, you're not the only one who's blur here, ok? Wakakaka~ @@

4th Day of 2012, 1st day of VRP 2012

Today is my first day working at USM under the Vacation Research Programme. So far so good. Initially we were only supposed to have shorts briefings about the rules and regulations in the lab, a little about molecular and cytogenetic, then some safety talk, training on our pipetting techniques, etc. However, as you can see, briefings are short and with so much time left, our schedule for tomorrow has to be forwarded to today. Which means, Pong and I had have the chance to do some DNA extraction, hands-on. It's quite interesting as things like this are never done in schools, plus nearly all the apparatuses used are mini-sized! Then our supervisor for the day, Mr. Chia, demonstrates the DNA quantification to us. We are supposed to do that tomorrow.

In case you don't have any idea of which department am I in, I am in the Human Genome Centre. Our schedule for tomorrow will be DNA quantification (hands-on), briefing, PCR (demo and hands-on) and discussion. I'll see if I can update about tomorrow's activities, provided that I am not that exhausted. Hopefully everything will go on smoothly. =)

Last Day of 2011

Today is already 31st December 2011. Looking back through this whole year, I wondered if I have really enjoyed it.

Before STPM ended, everything was a rush. Everyone was racing against time to just stuff in all those notes, equations, facts, etc into their brain. I don't know about other classes, but if you stepped into mine, you'll freak out. The whole environment was just the same as that when you are having an examination. Too quiet, too stressed. From there I saw a typical Malaysian kiasu behaviour.

Speaking about that, I suddenly remembered an Indian film "3 Idiots". I'm pretty sure you have already watched it by now, but did you get the message the movie is trying to convey? For what purpose do we study? Is it just to secure a big house, a big car and lots of money? Or do we study something purely out of passion for knowledge? You decide. I'm not going to continue talking about this topic for now, but MAYBE next time. If not, I'll get all sentimental. Haha~

Do you know why I suddenly talk about 3 Idiots? It's because I watched it (not all, just the last part) in a camp held recently. That is the second time I watched it, and when I'm back home, I watched it again for the third time with my brother. OMG...

Hmm... about the camp, I did mention about it in my previous post, right? It main title is "Why Not". I'm not quite sure about the actual title (too blur~ ><), but one thing for sure, I certainly learnt a lot in this camp. In this camp, I'm one of the committee members and suddenly I had to deal with challenges that came last minute. Mind you, I'm not used to that before, so you can actually guess how clumsily I reacted. However, I'm grateful that God gave me the chance to learn, and I even found some really nice friends there. =)

I liked the concept the camp is trying to bring. They teach you time management (where participants don't have any timetable), financial management, teamwork, etc mostly in the form of games. There were also activities like playing korfball, make up lesson, photography lesson, mock mask party, just to name a few. All in all, it's a ride not to be missed. One thing that I'm not quite satisfied though, we committee members were too busy rushing here and there. Sometimes how I wish I was one of the participants. =P

Leaving that aside, I wish I can stay a bit longer (maybe a day or two there) so that I can enjoy the food there. I just can't get enough! ><

Then there comes Christmas. Oh I sure loved that~ Sadly though, I'm not able to do the countdown with my church members on Christmas Eve. =(
Anyway, I still enjoyed caroling and the programmes on Christmas Day. =D

After tomorrow, 2011 will end. Slowly I begin to step into the 20th year of my life (Oh no! I don't want to become 20! ><).

Finally, I'm starting to feel sleepy, but my relatives are arriving tomorrow morning. Oh how am I going to stay awake??? @@

Alright then, time to catch my sleep. Night!

End Of STPM~

Finally, I've found some (little) time to refresh my blog. Ha...
I never thought that I would be so busy after STPM that I barely found time to blog again. I can't even write much now. Hmm...just a few updates will do for the time being.

Tomorrow afternoon (to be exact, it's 17th Dec), I'll be leaving for a camp in Seremban for nearly a week. Then I'll be back on Christmas Eve's morning, after that caroling at night, and then celebrating Christmas the next morning. Whew... can I take it? We'll see later... =P

It's only been a few days since I finished my last paper, but why do I feel like I've been lacking of sleep for like... a week? Argh...

Okay okay... I can't continue writing now, gotta clear all my camera's memory and catch up on my sleep before embarking on my "crazy" trip tomorrow.

Good night!

Ahhh~ Time to write~

Cobwebs, huh? Alright alright, I myself also have the same opinion. My my, this blog is really full of dust!!! *coughs*sneeze*

Hmm...It's been a really really long time since I've updated my blog and now, I don't even have a clue on where to start. CNY? Nay, I'll skip that part. It's been a quiet CNY this year and sounded more like a holiday than CNY. Oh how I missed my dear cousins! But next year, I'll go "bai nian". Remember to ajok me!!!

Now, for the big part.

First of all, I would like to congratulate our Chung Cheng senior, Chun Khoon, for getting a 4 flat for STPM. Yay! You've definitely done us proud! But it's not just him, there are also other CC seniors who got really good results in STPM. For example, In Sin's third sister, In Lu. She obtained a CGPA of 3.42! Congratulations!!!

Now, Sin, there some opinion for your sister. I know I'm just a junior and I don't have the necessary knowledge to give a real good advice. However, here are some of my two cents worth, " Who cares about those critics when we know that we have done the right thing, give our best shot and reap the best fruits from it? The greatest achievement is not just to get the finest fruit, but on how to preserve and make good use of it, how to turn it into a plant that will enable you to reap endless fruits of the same kind. Like Ah Poi said, 'I do what I like, and I like what I do.', follow your heart and at the same time taking the global situation into consideration. However, I'm sure she'll get a good course with her good results. Good luck!

To Lyn,
Your birthday post for me will never be late. I only get to see it now because I have a test these few days too.
A dedicated post is more valuable than other materials. The meaning behind it is the one that is most important. I love it very very much~ Thanks for the efforts that you've put in. =D
P/S: Hey, what my latest photo? I already have a bunch all in Facebook la...

To Sin,
Not to forget about you too. Though you may not consider it as a present, I do. Thanks a million!!! As an express of gratitude, I'll keep your handwriting in a safe place. Haha~

To Mimi,
Thanks for your wish~ Awww~ I miss you too <3
I can't wait to gather again with all four of us =D
Good luck in your studies!!!

Welcome, 2011

Aikss...I was thinking of creating a post about Christmas this year (2010, I mean) but it seems that I've just missed the time. Never mind, I'll just upload a few photos here, the rest will be in my Facebook =D

So, guess I gotta say "Good bye" to year 2010 and "Hello" to year 2011.

2011, a tough year ahead, with STPM my main concern. For my New year resolutions, I'll try to find some time to think about it and if possible, will post 'em up here ;-)

Once again I would like to say, "Happy 2011!!! To all my friends, best wishes to you. May you have a good year ahead and strive for the best in your targets. God bless you. Good luck!!!"

What a busy holiday!

Busy busy busy...

But what has actually kept me busy like hell? Working as a volunteer for a week?(A bit, but I enjoyed it. =D) homework?(Yeah), Biology project?(Definitely), wasting my time onlining?(Oh yeah~ haha).
So,  I think I can conclude that I've wasted my holiday without doing any revision. T_T

As for most of this holiday(why do I have a feeling that this holiday is way too short?), I've been doing nothing but to keep myself busy making leaf samples and to make sure that moulds don't grow on them. Quite a hard task, considering the humid weather here. Man, I seriously need a heater/dryer for that. Well, as for In Sin, she's quite occupied too, having to do the insect samples. Good luck, girl! Luckily we have other members in our group, Yeng and Pong with their leaf samples from other countries(Imported leaves weyyy~), YM with her Chinese citrus and HK. The only thing I hope for now is that our project will come out fine. God, please help us!!!
***
A few days ago I went to church for a movie night. The title of the movie was 《小雨》. I've tried to search for the movie in the Net but to no avail, at least for now. But I'll certainly post it up if I happened to chance upon it. Of course, if you can find it, do watch it. It is a heart warming story about a reporter who lost his little girl in a car accident and his wife ended up in a coma with a slim chance of waking up again. He was feeling so upset that he nearly lost his job. He couldn't even bring himself to forgive his neighbour. The one day, he met a little girl living in a village in China when he was to snap some landscape photos for the newspaper. She looked so similar to his deceased child. Unfortunately, the girl(小雨) had some heart complications and needed a surgery as soon as possible if she was to live. From there begins the journey of getting donations for the large sum of money needed for the surgery, whilst facing numerous obstacles. Oh course, without the help of God, miracles would not happen and things won't go on smoothly.

As a conclusion, the morale of this story is to want us to learn to forgive others and to always seek for God's help whenever good or bad, for he will always be there for us. There's one quotation in the movie hat I really like, "If you can't forgive others, how will others forgive you?"

My friends, this is a story that you can't possibly missed. Hope you guys will enjoy it. =)

And for all the ones that I loved, here's a song for all of you.

Cheng Ho Expo 2010

Cheng Ho Expo 2010, an expo that starts on the 21st Nov and ends on the 26th Nov, brings a lot of bittersweet memories to me and of course, precious experience and friends that I will never forget.

Before the official date, which was the 21st, we, the volunteers, regardless of races, have had training courses and briefings. Non of all those were really pleasant. We argued and argued and argued, especially among Chinese and Malay volunteers. All those rubbish stuffs about unfair treatments, etc came out. Truth be told, I don't really like the way those organizers (especially Malays) organize this program. They kept on giving false promises that makes us jubilant and full of hopes yet later crushed it by postponing and postponing their promises. They even gave reasons that big events like this will always have delays. My goodness, this is a big event! A reason like that certainly should not be accepted, unless it is of special case. Many times we have wanted to leave, be done with working as a volunteer, yet we persevered at the words of our Chinese volunteers' leaders. For that, I am grateful.

There were three types of pavilion, or rather, huge tents set up at the Stadium Muhammad IV, namely China Pavilion, Kelantan Pavilion and International Pavilion. Also, there were small tents for the Kelantan Local Traders and an International Food Court. Among those, China Pavilion is the largest and from what I've heard, the busiest. Part of it was because China traders were the main focus in this expo and part of  it was because a lot of Chinese volunteers were needed to be translators. Kai Li, Qian Wen, Rhu Hui and I were stationed at the China Pavilion and In Sin at the International Pavilion. Actually, QW wasn't really grouped into China Pavilion, but somehow she was transferred to there later. There was one thing I still can't get it through my mind. The organizers kept on saying that Chinese volunteers were very important in getting the translating job done in China Pavilion, as China traders can't speak Malay, but somehow a quarter or half of us were stationed at other places that were not quite necessary. The results? China Pavilion was short of translators and we were hell busy running from a booth to another, especially the last two days, where those stupid organizers wanted each and everyone of us to take only a shift, either morning or noon. Imagine 30++ volunteers tending 80++ booths. Some even got complained by the China traders for disappearing and reappearing in a booth. I even got pulled to selling mirrors and wooden puppets! Translators becoming salesmen? Not to mention poor IS was bored to death at her International Pavilion, with nothing to do but just stand. Aren't they "brilliant"? =_=

Brushing all those unpleasant stuffs aside, the bright side is still there. I worked as a translator in a Chinese Arabic calligraphy booth, along with Josephine and Qian Wen. The master, Mr. Baddrudin (毛占明), his brother-in-law, Suleiman (马维) and Mr. Qin (秦广德) were very very nice to us. The first day we met them,
they looked quite serious, yet in no time at all, we got along very well. You know, I rather stayed at the booth helping them than to become a salesman (Haha~). Mr. Baddrudin's artwork is really fascinating, with every sweep of his brush so elegant, so graceful. (He even wrote QW, Jo and me our Chinese names in Arabic, free of charge =D). I also met a lot of friends there, namely my group members, volunteers from my pavilion, other pavilions, some Malay volunteers that were so sweet, a guy named Harry, a friend from my primary school, etc. Not to mention food! During lunch break, my friends and I would be willing to walk a long way to try out all sorts of delicious foods. The Xinjiang smoked lamb meat, the Mat Salai burger, the roti cotek... Ah~ I ate till my heart's content.

Well, there are still much to say, yet time is slipping by. Even if I wanted to write everything out, I doubt the space here will be enough. All in all, I am glad for not giving up at the first place. Through this expo, God has taught me to persevere, to give and take, to learn the art of dealing with people and stuffs. Mmmm...those were the memories that I will cherished for the rest of my life. Gracias, my Lord, my friends, my family.

Life in Form 6 (5)

Just finished my year-end exam this Monday but aiyoyo...my results are hell worse! =(
Although I only got the results for P.A. 2, Maths 1 and Biology, they already showed me how worse I've did, and I certainly can't imagine what marks I'll get from other subjects. Gosh, things are really getting tougher and tougher nowadays. Gone were the days where you could just start to burn the midnight oil without much to worry, slept during classes, while away your time gossiping during free period, etc. Now, everyday, people around you keep on reminding how hard you will have to study just to get a Grade B or C. During every free period, you will get to see 50% of your classmates studying, discussing and debating about some facts, figures and all sorts of 'booky' stuffs which will only give you headaches; teachers keep on lecturing about how precious time is; parents telling you the importance of securing a good future. Oh my God, how much space have I still left to store my subjects' information if I had to take in just about everything of those things? Help me, please!

Yesterday, we were just done preserving insects. It's an individual work but luckily, it was just a practice to sharpen up your skills, so that you can do a better job in preserving 25 types of insects during the holidays. The insects we used yesterday were locust/grasshopper and housefly. Houseflies were easier to deal with as chloroform was all we need to kill it. A little dose will do. Locusts needed more time as we have to dissect it's abdomen to get rid of everything inside, mainly it's digestive system. Though Miss Yeap said it is digestive system, we can't really be specific as our specimens were too small and everything looks almost the same (I mean, yucky stuffs do looked alike, don't they?), so we just took everything out. Then we stuffed the hollow abdomen with cotton soaked in formalin, pinned it securely on the polystyrene board and put it in the oven. (Sounds cruel, isn't it? But what to do? It's compulsory.). For now, we'll just wait for a week for the specimens to dry completely. In the mean time, we have fern's samples to do and that will also have to wait for a few weeks, or rather, we will have to passed it up on the 13th of November. Actually I am not able to catch a locust for my experiment but luckily, with the help of my dear In Sin, I managed to get one, with extra houseflies. Thanks, babe *Muackz* =)

A few hours earlier, I have attended a show about the acrobat's team from China in SMCC. Aww...there was one guy from the team who was soooo handsome, and a seven-year-old boy who was so cute that you'll feel like hugging him XD. Overall, it's a remarkable show. We were awed by their flexibility, strength, etc. Recommended.

There was one thing that bothers me for now. It's about KG. Why did he keep on asking me how would I feel if he really is with C.Yee? Kanasai friend, I'm asking you questions lah, why did you ask me back and keep avoiding on telling me direct answers? =_=
Hmmm... I think next time when you ask me that stupid question again I'll ask you back. XD

R.I.P
